LOS ANGELES, July 12 (Xinhua) -- San Diego, a southern California city has more craft beer breweries than any others in the United States, unveiled its own "official" beer Wednesday.

The San Diego Tourism Authority and Bay City Brewing Company launched the craft beer "72 and Hoppy" , a session IPA (India Pale Ale) described by tourism officials as something "relaxed and refreshing, but vibrant and full of flavor, captures the spirit of San Diego in a pint glass."

This beer would be available at local restaurants and attractions soon, according to report of NBC.

Meanwhile, San Diego, 180 kilometers south from Los Angeles, became the first U.S. travel destination with an official beer.

The real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield said in its report published June that, nearing the mid-point of 2017, the San Diego region had more than 140 licensed brewing sites, including breweries, brewpubs and tasting rooms, topping the list of market for number of operation craft beer breweries.

King Countyof Washington state ranked second in the list and Los Angeles County third in number of breweries.

Researchers said the number of active U.S. craft breweries has more than tripled over the past decade, going from 1,409 in 2006 to 5,234 in 2016.

All of those breweries, plus brew pubs and related businesses, helped transform older urban neighborhoods in San Diego and other cities into new blocks strongly attracting tourists and millennial generation, the report found.

"Portland, Denver, Seattle and San Diego are just a few of the metropolitan areas where we have seen the strongest embrace of brewpub, microbrewery and regional brewery concepts," according to the report.
