RIYADH/CAIRO, July 24 (Xinhua) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) denounces Monday Israel's closure of East Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque, and installation of metal detectors at the site.
The closing statement of the OIC emergency meeting on Al-Aqsa crisis decried all punitive measures enforced by Israel since July 14, particularly the closure of the mosque and ban of prayers, according to Egypt's state news agency MENA.
The statement rejected all measures imposed by Israel on Al Quds, or occupied East Jerusalem, and the holy mosque, saying Israel is attempting to change the historical status of the city and Al-Aqsa.
Israel has no legal sovereignty over Al Quds and the Islamic and Christian sanctities as stipulated by all international documents and resolutions, it said.
The statement called on Israel to revise all illegal measures imposed on Al Quds, warning it of danger to provoke sentiment of Muslims.
