GHAZNI, Afghanistan, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Fighting between Afghan police and Taliban in the eastern Ghazni province have left 10 armed militants dead, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Units of police, according to the statement, conducted operations against Taliban positions in Andar district early Tuesday, killing at least 10 militants and injuring several others.

The statement, however, did not say if there were casualties on security personnel.

Taliban militants, who are in control of parts of the troubled Ghazni province and have been fighting against government in several provinces, are yet to make comment on the situation in the restive Andar district.
