NEW DELHI, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- A woman drowned and at least five others went missing after a boat capsized Tuesday in India's western state of Rajasthan, officials said.

The boat capsized in Parban river of Jhalawar district, about 335 km south of Jaipur city, the capital of Rajasthan.

"Today a boat capsized in Parban river in Aklera area here. One body has been fished out and five persons are reported missing," a police official said. "The search for missing ones is underway in the river."

Officials quoting eye witness accounts said the boat was carrying around 15 people.

Following boat capsize, police said five people managed to swim safely, while four others were rescued by locals.

Reports said the boat capsized due to strong water currents in the river.

In April, 13 people drowned after a boat sank in southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Enditem
