PHNOM PENH, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Three Chinese senior experts on Tuesday provided a training course to some 50 Cambodian agriculture officials on construction and management of laboratory and technology of agriculture mechanization and horticulture development.

Cambodian Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry Secretary of State Ty Sokun expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for actively supporting agriculture in Cambodia, saying that the 3-day workshop was essential to build capacity for Cambodian agriculture experts.

"This workshop will help Cambodian experts to better manage and develop agricultural laboratory, machinery, and horticulture," he said during the opening ceremony held at the General Directorate of Agriculture in Phnom Penh.

"I believe that through the workshop, our agriculture experts will have learned good knowledge and experience for carrying out at their respective departments," he said.

Li An, economic and commercial councilor of the Chinese Embassy to Cambodia, said China was very pleased to see fruitful cooperation between China and Cambodia in all fields, including agriculture.

"I hope that all trainees will take this opportunity to learn and interact well with the Chinese experts," he said.

Last week, Chinese experts, in cooperation with Cambodia's Fisheries Administration, also launched a month-long training course on mariculture technology and development for 30 Cambodian fisheries officers, agriculture students, and farmers.
