SEOUL, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) fired several "unidentified projectiles" into its east waters Saturday morning, local media cited South Korean military as saying.
The projectiles were launched from a site near Gitdaeryong in Gangwon Province at around 6:49 a.m. local time, according to the South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
Those flew some 250 kilometers in the northeastern direction before falling into the sea, the Yonhap news agency cited the JCS as reporting, claiming that the projects appeared to be short-range missiles.
South Korean and American forces are conducting their joint annual drills, called Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG), which Pyongyang deemed as a provocation.
