KABUL, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Five people were confirmed dead and eight others injured as a suicide bomber blew himself up in Kabul city on Tuesday, Interior Ministry's spokesman Najib Danish said.
In talks with reporters, Danish said that a terrorist blew himself up next to a branch of New Kabul Bank in Microrayan-e-Duwum locality in 9th Police district of Kabul city at around 10:00 a.m. local time.
Police have arrested a suspected terrorist from the site of the blast, he added.
The attack came as the war-weary Afghans are preparing for an upcoming Eid festival, probably celebrated on Friday.
Taliban militants have claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.
Last Friday, a terrorist attack claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group on a mosque here in Kabul killed more than 40 people and injured over 100 others.
