MACAO, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Visitor arrivals to China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) in August reduced by 0.6 percent year-on-year, or down by 1.8 percent month-to-month to 2.87 million, due to the impact of typhoon Hato late last month, the SAR's statistics service said Friday.
The same-day visitors decreased by 6.2 percent year-on-year to 1.32 million while overnight visitors increased by 4.8 percent to 1.55 million, the latest report from Macao SAR Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) said.
The DSEC data showed that visitors from the Chinese mainland increased by 1.9 percent year-on-year to 2 million in August, mainly from Guangdong and Hunan provinces.
In the first eight months of 2017, visitor arrivals totaled 21.35 million, up by 4.4 percent year-on-year. Overnight visitors rose by 11.5 percent while same-day visitors dropped by 2.4 percent.
