Provincial military court chief hurt in mine blast in Afghanistan's northern province

PUL-E-KHUMRI, Afghanistan, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- The chief of the provincial military court in Afghanistan's northern province had been hurt in a mine blast, police sources said on Monday.

"The incident took place early this morning, in Pul-e-Khumri, the provincial capital, when Khalilullah Naseri, chief of the provincial military court, who was leaving for sport hit by a mine placed at his house doorstep, leaving him slightly injured," police spokesman Zabihullah Shuja told Xinhua.

No one has immediately claimed responsibility for the incident and no one has so far been arrested in this regard.

In similar incident last week, police chief of Aliabad district of neighboring Kunduz province died of deep injuries sustained in a Taliban attack in Qazaq area, some 40 km north of Baghlan provincial capital.
