VIENNA, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Austrian unemployment rate has fallen 4.3 percent for the month of September, marking the biggest decline in the past six years, the social affairs ministry stated Monday.

According to the ministry, the national unemployment rate dropped to 7.5 percent, a 0.6 percent year-over-year decline, meaning 374,935 people in the country without a job.

The strongest unemployment declines were observed in the goods production sector (down 10.9 percent), construction (down 10 percent) and trade (down 7.3 percent), it said.

The result marks a trend in falling unemployment observable in every month since March.

An improving economy is a primary driving factor for the result, with between 2.6 percent and 2.8 percent GDP growth expected by leading economic institutes for the year.
