BEIJING -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday sent a condolence message to his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, over the mass shooting in Las Vegas in the U.S. state of Nevada.

The shooting caused heavy casualties, Xi said as he extended deep sympathy to the U.S. government and people, profound condolences to the victims, and sincere solicitude to those wounded.

The Chinese president also wished a quick recovery of the injured.

BEIJING -- A rise of more than 10 percent year on year in tourism revenue has been reported in first two days of China's National Day holiday by the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA).

Some 114 million tourists spent 94 billion yuan (about 9.7 billion U.S. dollars) on Monday alone, up 9.9 percent and 10.9 percent respectively over the same day of last year, said a statement released by CNTA on Monday.

MEXICO CITY -- Chinese investors are keenly interested in participating in the development of special economic zones (SEZs) in Mexico, Mexican officials said on Monday.

"We see a huge appetite in the area of developing the infrastructure of the special economic zones, in which (the Chinese) have great capacity," Enrique Huesca, the federal executive secretary in charge of developing the country's SEZs, told a gathering of foreign correspondents.

ISLAMABAD -- The first consignment of "Orange Line Metro Train" (OLMT), including three coaches and two engines, has arrived in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore, local media reported late Monday.

A total of 27 sets of trains, each comprising five cars, are being imported from China. By the end of this year, 23 train sets will reach Lahore, local TV channel Dunya reported citing the schedule issued by the Chinese contractor.
