VARNA, Bulgaria, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Bulgaria and Romania are looking for investors for three infrastructure projects, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said here on Tuesday after a meeting with his Romanian counterpart Mihai Tudose.
The first project is the construction of a new bridge Ruse-Giurgiu over the Danube River, second the construction of the Nikopol-Turnu Magurele bridge and the third a 200-km-long motorway along the Black Sea coast of the two countries, Borissov said.
"We talked a lot about connectivity and infrastructure, but not as an end in itself," Tudose said in turn.
"The railway line or the highway or bridge will be the means by which the two countries will be competitive in Europe, be able to provide investment opportunities, and obviously provide a better life for their citizens," he said.
Tudose said Bulgaria and Romania were two islands of safety for citizens, and expected that within one year the two countries would be admitted to the Schengen area.
The joint meeting between the governments of Bulgaria and Romania ended with the signing of bilateral documents in the fields of transport, energy, labor and social policy, internal affairs and the economy.
