ATHENS, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- A court in Thessaloniki city, northern Greece, ruled on Wednesday to extradite a Russian cybercrime suspect to the United States, where he is wanted in a 4 billion U.S. dollar bitcoin fraud case, local media reported.

Alexander Vinnik, 38, was arrested while on vacation in Greece in July, reported Greek national news agency AMNA.

U.S. authorities accuse him of managing a platform, through which he laundered gains from criminal activities.

Vinnik has denied the charges and asked not to be extradited. He can appeal to Greece's Supreme Court, while the final decision on his extradition rests with Greece's justice minister, said the report.

The Russian national is also wanted by Russian authorities on similar fraud charges.
