MADRID, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona continued their fine start to the season on Saturday night as Ernesto Valverde's side piled the agony on bottom of the table Malaga in the Camp Nou Stadium.

Barca went into the game after just two day's rest following their Champions League win at home to Olympiakos and Valverde rested Gerard Pique to allow Javier Mascherano to come into the side.

Gerard Deulofeu opened the scoring with his first ever competitive goal for the club after just 2 minutes with the Malaga players complaining the ball had gone out of play before Lucas Digne provided the final pass.

Malaga worked hard to keep the score down, but suffered an injury setback when striker Diego Rolan suffered a hamstring injury and Andres Iniesta's first league goal in over a year, 10 minutes after the break doubled their lead.

Luis Suarez missed a great chance to add a third when he missed a virtually open goal, but without being brilliant, Barca did enough to make it 25 points from a possible 27 and leave Malaga rock bottom with just one from nine games.

Valencia remain in second place, just four points behind Barca as they made it 5 wins out of 5 games with a 4-0 thumping of Sevilla, who have now lost their last three matches.

Goncalo Guedes produced a spectacular individual display, opening the scoring in the 43rd minute after turning three defenders and producing an unstoppable shot.

Simone Zaza added a second five minutes after the break and with Sevilla desperately attacking in the closing minutes, Guedes set up Santi Mina for Valencia's third of the night with five minutes remaining and completed the scoring with his second of the game in injury time.

A first half goal from Antonio Sarabia and an own goal from Alexis gave Betis a 2-0 win at home to Alaves, who missed chances at 1-0, but who are rooted in the relegation zone with just 3 points from 9 games.

The day kicked off with Levante and Getafe sharing the points in a 1-1 draw in which Faycal Fajr opened the scoring for the visitors before Jose Luis Morales equalized just four minutes later.
