Taliban, IS infighting leaves 7 dead in eastern Afghanistan

JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- At least seven militants from Taliban and Islamic State (IS) were killed and four others wounded after clash erupted between two rival groups in the eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday, a local official said Friday.

"Seven militants including four IS fighters and three Taliban insurgents were killed and four others including two Taliban fathers sustained injuries after clash erupted between the two rival groups in Tangi area of Khogayani district late on Thursday," Ataullah Khogiani told reporters.

Meantime, an army spokesman in the eastern region of Afghanistan, Shir Aqa Faqiri said that the fighting erupted on Thursday has claimed 11 lives from both Taliban and IS outfit and injured 14 others in Khogayani district of Nangarhar province.

Neither Taliban nor IS has made comment on the report.
