NEW DELHI, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed in a collision between a passenger bus and a car in western Indian state of Gujarat on Friday, officials said.
The accident took place on Mehsana-Unjha Highway, about 60 km north west of Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat.
"In a deadly collision between a luxury bus and a car, seven people were killed," a local government official said.
Police immediately reached to the spot and removed bodies to Mehsana civil hospital, where doctors would carry a post-mortem on them.
Police have registered the case and initiated investigations into the accident.
"The cause of accident is being ascertained," a police official said.
Deadly road accidents are common in India often due to overloading, bad condition of roads and reckless driving.
According to an official report released recently, on average India witnessed over 400 deaths in road accidents every day in 2016.
