KUNMING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- The China International Travel Mart opened Friday in southwest China's Yunnan Province, drawing more than 500 overseas travel agencies from 71 countries and regions.
The three-day fair has 3,700 booths and covers nearly 70,000 square meters in the provincial capital of Kunming.
Tourism in Yunnan is the focus of the event organized by the National Tourism Administration (NTA), Civil Aviation Administration of China and Yunnan government.
From January to September, the number of tourists in Yunnan grew by over 30 percent year-on-year.
A global alliance linking non-governmental players in the world tourism industry was set up in China in September. The World Tourism Alliance has 89 founding members, mainly national tourism associations, tourism enterprises and think-tanks from around the world.
