AMMAN, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Friday condemned the terrorist attack on a mosque in Egypt's North Sinai Province, which killed at least 235 people, state-run Petra news agency reported.
King Abdullah II of Jordan telephoned Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and condemned the attack.
The king called the attack a cowardly act and voiced Jordan's solidarity with Egypt.
Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani also condemned the attack and called for more efforts to fight terrorism.
The attack was inhumane and violated all laws by targeting defenseless worshippers, he added.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi vowed Friday a "fierce action" in response to a mosque's attack in North Sinai, state-run TV reported.
"The army and police will avenge our martyrs and return security and stability with force in the coming short period," he said in a televised speech.
The President's office in Egypt has ordered a three-day mourning period following the terrorist attack.
