HAIKOU, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The FINA World Aquatics Gala "Soiree des Etoiles," the fourth edition of its kind, will make its debut in China on December 2 in Sanya, South China's Hainan Province.
Several of the most outstanding Chinese athletes in aquatic sports will gather at the Gala, such as Olympic and world champion Sun Yang, Olympic medalist Fu Yuanhui, synchronized swimmers Jiang Wenwen/Jiang Tingting, British star diver Thomas Daley and top South African swimmer Chad le Clos.
Former Olympic and world champions including Tian Liang, Xiong Ni, Guo Jingjing and Gao Ming will also attend the event.
The Gala will see 14 awards celebrating the best athletes in swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, water polo, and others.
Two special awards will also be announced on the night, one to a breakthrough athlete and another who is the most popular.
