DOHA, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Qatari emir warned of serious repercussions of U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to move his country's embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, the state-run Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported Thursday.

Such a move would complicate the situation in the Middle East and negatively affect the security and stability in the region, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said during a telephone conversation with Trump on Wednesday.

Qatar reiterates its position on the Palestinian issue on the basis of the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative based on the two-state solution, al-Thani said.

On Wednesday, U.S. President Trump reversed decades of U.S. Policy and announced his official recognition of Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel, the decision which has angered the Muslim world.
