MEHTERLAM, Afghanistan, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Three militants including a senior Taliban commander Mullah Abdul Samad were killed and two others injured as a mine exploded in his house in the eastern Laghman province on Monday, spokesman for provincial government Sarhadi Zawak said.
"A group of Taliban rebels were busy in a meeting in the house of Mullah Abdul Samad, the shadow deputy governor for Badpakh district today morning when a mine exploded, killing Mullah Samad along with two of his armed men and injuring two others," Zawak told Xinhua.
Two others including the son of Mullah Samad were injured in the blast, the official added.
Samad, according to the official, had served as notorious commander of the Taliban group in Laghman province and his physical elimination could prove a major blow to the armed militants.
