HAIKOU, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Belt and Road Haikou Youth Football Tournament 2017 concluded on Tuesday in Haikou, the capital city of South China's island province of Hainan.
Eight teams from Croatia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and China attended the five-day tournament.
NK Bubamara Zagreb of Croatia beat Malacca Sports School U15 of Malaysia 2-1 in the final and won the title. Lijiang Old Town Football School took the bronze medal.
The event features group and knockout stages, adopting the latest rules of the Chinese Football Association.
As an important city of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Haikou plans to make the tournament a high-level international competition with the entry of teams of Belt and Road countries and regions.
