Bassav displays a hand-carved sepiolite sculpture of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founding father of the modern Turkish Republic, in Eskisehir, Turkey, on July 31, 2016. The 72-year-old craftsman Bassav has engaged in the carving of sepiolite for 55 years. Sepiolite, also known as meerschaum, is a soft white clay mineral which is often used to make tobacco pipes and cigarette holders. Most of the sepiolite of commerce is obtained chiefly from the plain of Eskisehir in Turkey. (Xinhua/Zou Le)
