HO CHI MINH CITY, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City has invested over 2,000 billion Vietnamese dong (some 89 million U.S. dollars) in building 1,919 classrooms for this school year which starts in September.
The new classrooms are to serve over 59,000 students, many of whom live in rural areas, the municipal Department of Education and Training said Tuesday.
The department announced that this school year, Ho Chi Minh City needs to recruit nearly 5,000 teachers, including over 1,500 teachers for primary schools.
The city plans to have 300 classrooms for every 10,000 residents by 2020.
