HO CHI MINH CITY, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Hanoi T&T became the three-time champion of the V. League, Vietnam's top professional football league, after beating Thanh Hoa 2-0 on Sunday.
Also on Sunday, Hai Phong whitewashed Song Lam Nghe An 3-0, wining a total of 50 points as Hanoi T&T has done, but the Hanoi-based club boasts a better win-loss difference.
After playing 26 games, Hanoi T&T won 16, drew 2 and lost eight; Hai Phong won 15, drew five and lost six; and SHB Da Nang won 15, drew four and lost seven for 49 points. On bottom at the end of the 2016 season is Dong Thap, who have only eight points with a 1-5-20 record.
The V. League is contested by 14 clubs who play each other on a home and away basis. The team finishing on top at the end of the season is crowned the champion and enters the AFC Champions League.
