ROME, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The current situation in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo has become "unacceptable", foreign ministers of Italy, France, and Germany said after holding talks here on Wednesday.
"Italy, France, and Germany want to raise their voices against the situation in eastern Aleppo, which is unacceptable under a human and political point of view," Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni told a joint press conference after the meeting.
Gentiloni stressed a military solution to the Syrian conflict was not feasible, and appealed for diplomatic efforts.
The talks with his French and German counterparts, Jean-Marc Ayrault and Frank-Walter Steinmeier, took place at Villa Madama in late afternoon.
The meeting had been called by Italy to address the Syrian crisis and the major challenges facing the European Union (EU) in the perspective of the Brexit, the ministry said in a statement.
The city of Aleppo, once Syria's largest city and major economic hub, is located near the border with Turkey. It has long become a focal point of clashes.
