LIMA, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday called for concerted efforts to advance the construction of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP), noting that it is a strategic choice concerning the long-term prosperity of the region.
The move will provide an institutional guarantee for fostering an open regional economy, Xi said while delivering a keynote speech at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in Lima, capital of Peru.
He also underlined the need to safeguard the multilateral trade system.
