LUSAKA, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Zambian government on Friday launched an electronic transport information system aimed at improving operations of its road transport and safety agency.
The electronic Zambia Transport Information System, worth 3 million U.S. dollars, will enhance operations of the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA), said a government agency responsible for regulating traffic and managing road transport.
Minister of Transport and Communication Brian Mushimba said during the launch of the system in Lusaka that the system will enhance transparency and eradicate corruption in the management of the road transport sector.
The system will enhance the operations of the road safety agency and fight corruption, he added.
The new system will also reduce the number of forgery cases among motorists and see improved security features on new drivers' licenses. Enditem
