Source: Xinhua   2017-01-31 17:29:29

BEIJING, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- China will promote the development of photovoltaic power technology in the next five years to upgrade the country's energy structure.

China will accelerate the technological and industrial upgrade of photovoltaic power and speed up elimination of outdated capacity during 2016-2020, according to the National Energy Administration (NEA) solar power development plan for the next five years.

China will install over 110 million kilowatts of solar power by 2020, according to the plan and reduce the price of photovoltaic power by at least 50 percent compared with 2015.

China had the world's largest installed capacity of photovoltaic power in 2015, with an annual growth rate of over 33 percent from 2011 to 2015.

China is aiming to lift the proportion of non-fossil fuels in energy consumption to 20 percent by 2030 from the present 11 percent.
