DHAKA, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's 21st annual book fair, which brings together hundreds of books, readers and writers to celebrate literature, kicked off here on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the month-long book fair which is being held in Dhaka's Bangla Academy premises and adjacent Suhrawardy garden.
A total of 663 stalls have been allocated to 409 organizations this year, Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan told a press conference on Monday.
He said the book fair will feature a four-day International Conference on Literature with the presence of dozens of distinguished writers from home and abroad.
Khan said 27 famous literary personalities from seven countries including Austria, China, Germany, India and Sweden are expected to join the conference.
A total of 3,444 books were exhibited during the 2016 fair, compared with around 3,700 books in the 2015 fair.
