RIYADH, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- A Saudi border guard was killed in a land mine explosion on a border city near Yemen, the Saudi interior ministry tweeted on Thursday.
The mine blast hit the vehicle of the deceased during routine patrolling in the area, while no confirmation of injuries was made yet.
The border guard was the latest Saudi soldier to have died since a Saudi-led coalition launched a war against Houthis in Yemen in March 2015.
Earlier on Thursday, a Saudi soldier was shot dead in border city of Jazan by Houthi militias fired from Yemeni territory, said the ministry.
A similar incident happened in December last year, when another Saudi solider died in mine explosion in Jazan.
Most of the deaths were caused by missile attacks when tens of Saudi civilians were also killed in different border cities.
Thousands of Yemeni civilians also lost their lives in airstrikes by the coalition or direct clashes between the Houthi rebels and supporters of Yemen's elected government.
