Flight number rises during Lunar New Year holiday

BEIJING, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- China witnessed a sharp increase in flight number over the Lunar New Year holiday, official data showed on Friday.

There were more than 69,000 flights from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2, up 12.9 percent year on year. The flights carried 9.84 million passengers, up 15.1 percent from one year earlier, according to data from the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

The flight punctuality rate rose to 85.6 percent during the holiday, up 3.1 percentage points year on year.

Cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming, Chengdu and Chongqing saw huge passenger flow, with the number of departing passengers exceeding 50,000 every day.
