HO CHI MINH CITY, March 1 (Xinhua) -- A total of 885 fires and explosions broke out across Vietnam in the first two months of this year, killing 20 people and injuring 36 others.
Meanwhile, the fires and explosions left losses of over 400 billion Vietnamese dong (17.9 million U.S. dollars), the country's Fire Prevention and Fight Department said Wednesday.
In the same period last year, the Southeast Asian country suffered 642 fires and explosions, which left six people dead and 59 others injured, and caused losses of 153 billion Vietnamese dong (nearly 6.9 million U.S. dollars).
Over the past two months, 3,465 traffic accidents occurred in Vietnam, killing 1,570 people, severely injuring 609 people, and slightly hurting 2,051 others, said the country's Traffic Police Department.
Specifically, 32 railway accidents happened, claiming 25 lives and injuring 16 people.
