DUBAI, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Andy Murray saved seven match points in the quarter-finals as the top seed of Dubai Championships finally won the dramatic victory 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (20-18), 6-1 over German Philipp Kohlschreibe on Thursday.

The British tennis ace survived another potential big upset of the event after second seed Stan Wawrinka and third seed and 18-time Grand slam winner Roger Federer both were eliminated in the previous matches.

In a 31 minute second-set tiebreaker, Murray saved seven match points and finally won a decisive break point to tie the match, which helped him took control of the almost three hours high-intensity competition.

Murray admitted his 33-year-old rival forced him into the most difficult tiebreaker ever.

"Never." He said. "And I have never played a tiebreak that long ever. Nothing even close to that."

The rival of world no.1 in the semifinals will be Lucas Pouille from France. In addition, Spanish player Verdasco will face Dutchman Robin Haase in the other semifinal.
