PHNOM PENH, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Defense Minister Gen. Tea Banh met with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Defense Services, on Wednesday to discuss defense and security cooperation, a senior military official said.
"It is Gen. Min Aung Hlaing's first visit to Cambodia to strengthen and expand relations and cooperation between the armies of the two countries," Gen. Eth Sarath, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, told reporters after the meeting.
He said that both sides agreed to exchange military leaders' visits and military students in order to enhance bilateral ties.
Min Aung Hlaing arrived in Phnom Penh on Wednesday for a two-day visit. He also paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Wednesday afternoon.
Min Aung Hlaing succeeded retired Senior General Than Shwe as Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Defense Services in March 2011.
