UNITED NATIONS, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The global statistical community has come together to create a robust global framework of indicators to keep track of the efforts to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a UN spokesman announced here Monday.
"The 230 indicators include, for example, the prevalence of undernourishment, the maternal mortality ratio and the mortality rate for children under the age of five," UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said at a daily news briefing here.
The indicators will be conducive to a robust follow-up and review mechanism for the implementation of the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The efforts require a solid framework of indicators and statistical data to monitor progress, inform policy and ensure accountability of all stakeholders.
The 2030 Agenda and its SDGs are the guidelines for global development efforts for years from 2015 to 2030.
