BEIJING, March 15 (Xinhua) -- The National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, on Wednesday adopted the government work report at the closing meeting of its annual session.
Among 2,838 NPC deputies present at the closing meeting, 2,812 voted for the report.
A total of 2,721 deputies also voted for the report on the implementation of the 2016 plan for national economic and social development and the 2017 plan for national economic and social development.
The report on the implementation of central and local budgets for 2016 and on central and local budgets for 2017 was also approved, with 2,555 votes in favor.

BEIJING, March 15 (Xinhua) -- China's national legislature on Wednesday passed the General Provisions of the Civil Law, the opening chapter of a civil code planned to be enacted in 2020.
The General Provisions were adopted at the closing meeting of the annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC), with 2,782 of the 2,838 deputies present voting in favor. It takes effect on Oct. 1. Full story
