YUSHAN, China, March 16 (Xinhua) -- The three-year-old Chinese Pool World Championship welcomes two new champions after Fu Xiaofang and Yang Fan respectively won the women and men's finals in Yushan, a southwest county of China's Jiangxi Province on Thursday.
Fu Xiaofang made a quite impressive comeback in her pool career as well as in women's final on Thursday night. After nearly two year's rest, the mother of new born twins picks up the cue to participate in the world championship and made it to the final.
Her opponent, the dark horse Yu Jinpeng, had a 5-0 start in the first session before Fu stormed six frames to tie 12-12.
The two players fought to the last frame in the best-of-33 final when Fu had all balls of her group off and left the black near the pocket. Yu's following foul costed her the championship of the match.
"I really didn't expect this after over one year's rest. I didn't have much time to train, and I made quite a lot mental adjustments tonight." said Fu who met her husband here in the 2015 championship.
"As the daughter-in-law of Yushan, it's so happy to win the champion at home."
This is also the third year in a row for Chinese players to win the women's championship after Bai Ge and Chen Siming.
The result after the first period of the final between Yang Fan and Chu Bingjie was 10-10. Starting at 19:00, the second session of their clash lasted for almost five hours before Yang Fan finished the match 21-19 in the best-of-41 final.
