14th Cameroon International Cycling Tour concludes in Yaounde

YAOUNDE, March 19 (Xinhua) -- The 14th Cameroon International Cycling Tour concluded on Sunday in Yaounde, capital of Cameroon, with German team as the winner followed by defending champion Morocco team.

The German team finished the 8-lap tour in 24 hours one minute and 27 seconds for a total of 956.7 kms.

German cyclist Holler Nikodemus won the yellow jersey and for him it is the first time to win.

"For me it is the first time, for the team it is the second time to win. We are a strong team, we are so happy," Holler talked to Xinhua after winning the tour.

Organizer Cameroon Cycling Federation President Honore Yossi said they are satisfied with the competition. "We invited some good teams to participate the competition, so our young cyclists can learn something from them," he said.

Eleven teams which consist of 63 cyclists from 10 countries participated the 9-day tour from March 11 to 19.

The 10 countries include host Cameroon, Morocco, Rwanda, Cote d'Ivoire, Congo DR, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany and Slovakia.
