TAIYUAN, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Seven people have been arrested for purchasing and selling drugs, in a joint operation by police in Shanxi and Guangdong provinces, police said Wednesday.
A total of 6.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, a replica gun and over 300,000 yuan (about 43,500 U.S. dollars) were seized during the arrest.
The case surfaced in December last year when police in Taiyuan, capital of northern China's Shanxi caught a drug addict who gave clues to a drug dealer surnamed Guo. Guo planned to purchase drugs in Guangdong.
Further investigation of Guo revealed more drug dealers, with police in Shanxi and Guangdong launching a joint raid, arresting seven drug dealers in Guangdong in early March.
An investigation is ongoing.
