2nd int'l conference on Africa's emergence opens in Cote d'Ivoire

ABIDJAN, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The second international conference on the emergence of Africa opened Tuesday in Abidjan to discuss the practices which will lead the development of the African continent.

The conference brings together some 400 participants, including Heads of state from countries including Senegal, Guinea, Liberia, and Cote d'Ivoire, leading figures from international and regional development institutions and academic research centers as well as experts from around the world.

At the opening of the meeting, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) administrator, Helen Clark, welcomed the progress made by African economies.

The conference ends on Thursday. The previous conference was held in Abidjan in 2015.
