WASHINGTON, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Gunfire was reportedly heard near the U.S. Capitol Hill on Wednesday morning as a man tried to run over Capitol police officers, the police said.
The situation appears to be contained, according to media reports.
The nearby U.S. Botanic Garden has been on lockdown following the incident, which was reported to have happened before 10 a.m. local time(1400 GMT) Wednesday.
