Uganda sends three runners for 2017 Wuhan Marathon

KAMPALA, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Three Ugandan athletes will take part in the 2017 Wuhan Marathon slated for April 9th in China.

Felix Ekikana, who won the Entebbe Marathon, teams up with Robert Lubega and John Kateregga to compete the event, which includes marathon, marathon and health run of 10km.

The number of participants is estimated to exceed 20,000.

Beatrice Ayikoru, the Secretary of the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) said, "We are happy to have as many runners compete in international Championships."

Uganda's top athlete Stephen Kiprotich, the 2012 London Olympics Marathon gold medalist, will not compete in Wuhan as he is preparing the Hamburg Marathon on April 23.
