Vietnam's southern stock market ends up

HO CHI MINH CITY, April 18 (Xinhua) -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 714.93 points on Tuesday, up 4.1 points, or 0.58 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 178.132 million shares worth 4.207 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (188.46 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 150 stocks went up, 101 stocks fell down, while 52 stocks remained unchanged.

VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 675.71 points, up 6.4 points, or 0.96 percent.

A total of 60.731 million shares worth 1.663 trillion VND (74.52 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Tuesday.
