UN chief hopes to see accord to improve lives of people in war-torn Syria

UNITED NATIONS, May 4 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Thursday that he "is encouraged" by an agreement on Syria reached earlier in the day in Astana, Kazakhstan, saying that "It will be crucial to see this agreement actually improve the lives of Syrians."
