MEXICO CITY, May 17 (Xinhua) -- A small private aircraft crashed on Wednesday near Toluca International Airport, in the central State of Mexico, killing the two pilots on board.

A statement from the State of Mexico government added that the "causes of the disaster" will be revealed after investigation.

The pilot and co-pilot were named as Enrique Gaona Arcos and Luis Anza.

Aviation authorities told the press that the Learjet 25 aircraft took off from Toluca around 3:30 p.m., destined for the northern state of Durango.

The accident did not affect any third-parties or disrupt the airport's operations as the plane crashed in an unpopulated area, around 200 meters from the terminal.

Rescue teams from the Red Cross and Mexico's Civil Protection body rushed to the scene but reported that the plane was on fire and that no survivors were found.

According to the flight plan, the jet belonged to a private company and had only a pilot and co-pilot on board.

Toluca International Airport, around 60 km away from the Mexican capital, has operated a greater number of commercial and private flights as the Mexico City International Airport has become saturated.
