QUITO, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Around 179 special guests, including 11 heads of state, have confirmed presence at Wednesday's transfer of power ceremony between President Rafael Correa and his successor, Lenin Moreno, official sources confirmed Tuesday.

The ceremony will see Moreno officially take power, after winning the second round of presidential elections on April 2. Correa, who has led the country for 10 years, will step down. Moreno formerly served as Correa's vice-president from 2007 until 2013.

The handover of power will take place at 10 a.m. at the National Assembly. At 7 p.m., Moreno's cabinet of 23 ministers will be sworn into office on the Plaza Grande, outside the government office building.
