HANOI, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Among over 60 golds Vietnam aims to gain at the approaching Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, 10 are expected to come from its top swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien.

Besides Anh Vien, who bagged 8 golds and set 8 records at the previous regional sporting event, her compatriots, including Quy Phuoc, Duy Khoi, Quang Nhat and Phuong Tram, are expected to bag swimming golds at the 2017 SEA Games in August in Malaysia, the country's General Department of Sports and Physical Training said on Monday.

Some other Vietnamese athletes are expected to win golds in running, shooting and martial arts events at the upcoming SEA Games. Female runner Le Tu Chinh, who has recently won two golds at an international athletics tournament in Thailand, is forecast by many local experts to dominate the 100-meter and 200-meter events at the Games.

Vietnam will send 470 athletes to Malaysia to vie for medals at 28 out of 32 sport events, hoping to be in top three at the regional tournament, said the department.

At the previous SEA Games in 2015 in Singapore, Vietnam ranked the third with 73 golds, 53 silver and 60 bronze.
