MANDERA, Kenya, June 23 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed and three others seriously injured by the Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab early Friday in a northeast Kenyan border town.
Mohamud Saleh, commissioner of the region, said a police officer and two civilians were killed when the militants attacked Elwak town in Mandera County and immediately escaped toward the Somali border.
"The attack in Elwak town took place near a bank and the gang was targeting security agents. The death toll could rise," Saleh said.
