FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, June 29 (Xinhua) -- At least four militants have been killed and two others sustained injuries after a clash erupted among Taliban insurgents in Wardoj district of northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province on Thursday, locals said.

According to locals, the clash erupted in Tirgaran village of Wardoj district Thursday afternoon.

A resident of Tirgaran village who declined to be identified said a group of armed Taliban wanted to punish a person on charge of committing crime and another group opposed it and their arguments led to firefight which lasted for a while leaving four persons dead from both sides and injuring two others.

Meanwhile, governor of Wardoj district Dawlat Mohammad Khawar in talks with Xinhua confirmed the clash but failed to provide details.

Taliban militants who are in control of major parts of Wardoj district over the past 20 months haven't commented.
